Carroll Cowart papers, 1943-1945, 1991.

The collection consists of papers of Carroll Cowart from 1943-1945, 1991. The papers include correspondence, a scrapbook with photographs taken during Cowart's military service, printed histories of the 354th Infantry Regiment and the 89th Infantry Division, a typescript manuscript of Cowart's military experiences written in 1991, and ephemera. Cowart's correspondence (1943-1945), written to his father C.L. Cowart, describes camp life and training exercises in Louisiana and North Carolina training camps; troop movements in Europe; the post war duties of the 354th at Camp Lucky Strike (France) which included re-deploying European troops to the Pacific and shipping home Americans who were held as German prisoners of war; and trips in post war Europe.
